What is Sekhem?

At its core, Sekhem is a modernised healing modality adapted from an Ancient Egyptian practice. It is similar to Reiki and is a form of energy work that incorporated the elements, symbols and the Egyptian Pantheon. 

Sekhem can be used to aid meditation as well as heal the spiritual and elemental bodies and it holds a lot of history and mythology.

Mythologically speaking, Sekhem was gifted to the humans by Sekhmet, the Goddess of War and Healing. Her name translates to Power and Sekhem means Power of Powers. Sekhmet was created by Ra, the God of the Sun, during a period when humans were disrespecting the Gods. 

In her rage, Sekhmet took Earth, a weapon incarnate and she set a war against humanity. The bloodlust lasted too long, so much so that the other Gods conspired against her - Thoth came up with the solution of lacing battlefield with beer so when Sekhmet drank, she eventually fell asleep. 

After arising from her slumber, she saw the devastation and took herself off to a cave, guided by Anubis. After 3 days, weeks or months (times are hard to pin point in Ancient Egyptian lore) Sekhmet emerged from the cave 'reborn'. 

In some accounts, she emerges as Hathor, the Mother of Mothers and the Goddess of Nurturing and Healing whilst others say she emerged as herself or simply as a lioness. How she emerged is slightly irrelevant... what she did after emerging however shows the power of Sekhem for the Goddess of War transmuted herself into the Goddess of Healing and gifted Sekhem to the humans so they too could heal. 

Sekhem was lost to the world for many generations, some even say thousands of years, until Patrick Ziegler helped it come back to the modern world after a deep meditation in the kings chamber of the Great Pyramid. As a Reiki Master and Teacher, it is seen that the new version of Sekhem came through the Reiki Healing vibration and as such was seen as Seichem. But it also opened the door for Sekhem to be reborn, without the influence of Reiki in its teachings. 

Sekhem is an undeniably powerful healing modality that is directly linked to the Egyptian Pantheon and their symbols of power and it can help bolster positivity, protection, healing, harmony and soul.
