Cosmic Recap - Lionsgate, the Perseids, the Eclipse & What's Coming Next

August has been extraordinary.

If you've felt it - the heightened energy, the vivid dreams, the sense that something's shifting beneath the surface of ordinary life - you're not imagining it. The cosmos has been busy. And it's been generous. In the space of just a few weeks, we've moved through a Lionsgate Portal, a Solar Eclipse, a New Moon, and one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year. Each one a threshold. Each one an invitation.

Here's what moved through us - and what's coming next.

The Lionsgate Portal - 8th August

This year, I took time for myself. I built an altar and sat with the sun as it set between my acer trees - lighting candles, setting intentions, burning incense, drawing tarot, and simply taking the time to soak up the energies. I made a deliberate choice to keep my phone off for that hour. No social media, no documentation - just the practice, held privately and fully. The downloads I received, both personally and for Emporos, were some of the most cathartic and exciting I've had in a long time.

I'll still be sharing an 8-card Lionsgate tarot reading and a fire altar setup for those of you who want to work with this energy - but I wanted to be honest that the most powerful moments of practice are often the ones nobody photographs.

The Solar Eclipse - 12th August

Four days later, we sat at Porth in Cornwall, looking out over the sea, and waited.

Eclipses are threshold moments. They accelerate what's already in motion and close doors that were already closing. A Solar Eclipse - the Moon passing before the Sun, briefly darkening the day - is a reset point. An invitation to release the old story and step into the next one.

Without eclipse glasses, the visual effect was subtle - but we found something better: a colander held up to the light, casting dozens of tiny crescent shadows onto the ground as the Moon moved across the Sun. It was one of those unexpectedly perfect moments. Simple, curious, completely present.

What I remember most is the feeling. Sitting on the Cornish coast with an extraordinary sense of oneness - with the sea, with the moment, with whatever was shifting in the sky above us. Humbling and connective. That's the only way I can describe it.

The Perseid Meteor Shower - 11th-13th August

The New Moon fell on 12th August - which is exactly why the Perseids were so extraordinary this year. No moonlight to compete with. Just a perfectly dark sky and fire falling through it.

The Perseids are debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle, burning bright as it meets our atmosphere. But here's what I kept thinking as I watched from Cornwall: we were sitting on Earth - spinning on its axis, orbiting the Sun at around 107,000 kilometres per hour - travelling through a field of ancient debris, and our atmosphere was burning it up right in front of us. Protecting us. Turning destruction into light.

Ancient cultures read meteor showers as messages: the cosmos speaking in light. I think they were right. There's something about standing in the dark, watching fire fall from the sky, that makes the word soul feel less abstract.

The Perseids arrive every August, reliably, beautifully. The universe isn't indifferent. It's alive, and it's moving - and so are we, faster than we ever remember.

What's Coming: Virgo Season - 23rd August

In three days, the Sun moves into Virgo, and the energy shifts.

Where Leo burns bright and expansive, Virgo turns inward and precise. This is the season of discernment: of looking clearly at what you've built, what's working, and what needs refining. Virgo's an Earth sign - grounded, analytical, deeply attentive to detail. It's the energy of the craftsperson, the healer, the one who sees what others overlook and quietly fixes it.

After the fire of August - the altar, the eclipse, the meteor shower, the intentions set and the doors closed - Virgo season's an invitation to integrate. To take everything that's moved through you and ask: what does this mean for how I live?

That's Virgo's work. Not the grand gesture. The quiet, deliberate, beautiful refinement.
